Help us stay on the land
In March 2024, this farm and our neighbors Allwood Farm were refused permanent planning permission - having met and exceeded financial targets and demonstrating a functional need to live here, the application was refused on spurious grounds, with no site visits to the farm from Wealden Council, and no interaction with us to understand our businesses, nor a proper review of us having met all conditions set on us.
We are currently appealing the decision and if you could take 10 minutes to write in support that can help towards stacking up evidence that this is a viable functioning business and help to save the future of our farms, homes and livelihoods.
Otherwise, in 12 months, I have to leave, with all the work here done including the planting of over 5500 trees, creating ponds, improving wildlife numbers drastically, improving drainage in a field that once frequently flooded, building a profitable business in a notoriously difficult industry, will all need to be undone.
This is not a situation we thought we would be facing, especially when our end of the bargain was upheld and at great personal and mental cost.
- The strength of the businesses on the site and the financial viability demonstrated
- You being a customer and having received produce from us and how this might affect your business
- The hardship we've all gone through to achieve the targets set on us, to go and achieve them and that still not be enough.
- The benefits to ecology and biodiversity
- The community benefits and enhancing the local supply chain in the area
